Hello everyone!

We will be talking about women playing poker – if you are interested, then hop along for the ride! The blog is inspired by Rebecca McAdam and hew wonderful book ‘How to Become a Poker Queen’. I happened on it by chance three year ago, and it offered me an amazing perspective on the life of female poker players. It also helped me understand some of my own failings and problems…

I share a name with Rebecca McAdam, which was one of the reasons I took notice of her book after another stressful stint in the online room. Unlike her, I’ve always been Beccy for everyone I come to know, so I am planning to stick to that. I’ve been into poker for 5 years now, trying to go pro – and admittedly failing. Things have been looking up recently, but don’t expect me to start posting successful strategies and tips just yet – I will leave the technical part to those who are still better than me, for I have a long way to go.

Instead, this blog will be focusing on motivation, and the psychological aspects of trying to embrace poker as a full-time occupation – or at least to make a nice sum on the side. I am thinking of this as the Rebecca Project – in honour of Rebecca McAdam who inspired me, rather than little ol’ me! Let’s see if I will be able to give something back to other aspiring poker players!

Being a female poker player isn’t as hard as most people imagine. There are a lot of women who love the game but making a name for yourself is excruciatingly hard. There has been a growing attention to the disparity between men and women on the leading poker tournaments – but on the other hand, more and more female poker players are joining in the fun, and getting respectable results. Things seem to be improving, and there is nothing to stop you from becoming a part of this amazing world!
